The Castaway Waterfront Restaurant & Sushi Bar is a popular waterfront dining spot that offers sushi and seafood dishes as well as traditional American fare. The restaurant has an outdoor seating area with plenty of room to gather with friends, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. As one of the Keys' oldest establishments, Castaway has been around for many years and remains a favorite among locals.
Ended up here by chance, so pleased we did. Had brunch here. Food was delicious and our server was very kind, making sure we were happy with how our dishes were going to be cooked. Sat outside to enjoy the water and boats, met a wonderful old manatee who was asleep. Really enjoyed ourselves here

Great place. Great food. Great bar.Service and kitchen was slow but we had a group of 11 so that's probably the reason. They offered sushi with a hot dog, which is wild to me but some folks really enjoyed it. I tried the Shrimp Reuben and it was delicious. The conch fritters were good and the sauce was perfectly spicy. Try the seafood dip; you won't regret it.

Food choices were definitely unique, great presentation but taste was mediocre. We tried lots of the recommendations and had an array of appetizers, sushi, and both breakfast and lunch options. Lionfish was most interesting, and is an acquired taste. Great apparel choices. Restaurant is tucked away and right on the water. Loved our server, great energy and very attentive.

Marathon has a true treasure in this restaurant. The food is excellent, the service is excellent, and the folks are friendly. We have eaten at places all over the world and we now add Castaway to our list of ultimate favorites. How much do we love this place? We’ve been here a week and today was our THIRD visit. First off, the service is awesome (times 100!). Servers are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They have a good synergy between the front and back end of the restaurant. Food is consistent, prompt, and damn good. We’ve been working our way through the menu… the chef and his staff know how to prepare fish/seafood. This is now the place we will judge future seafood/fish dinners by. We have at least one more visit coming up before we leave, there’s a couple more items to try (wink). The grouper Oscar was divine. Loved the seasoned “blackened” grouper against the classical accompaniment of asparagus and hollandaise. The grouper was juicy, not overcooked (which is easy to do when blackening fish). One of the fresh catches was golden tilefish. We had that blackened/sandwich (mine sans bun) as well. The fish was flaky, juicy, and just the right amount of spice. Tonight we sprung for the shrimp and scallop stuffed lobster tail. Omg, that was pure heaven! It’s a dish to eat before you die. Haha! The conch fritters were were good. They had the perfect kick (loved the dipping sauce). Even the raw oysters were on point. Marathon, you have a true gem here. Makes us wish we lived closer.

My husband and I went here while on vacation. Everyone was so nice and the place looked so cool. I love the lionfish light and all the sea decor. There was sports and fishing on the televisions. Our waitress was kind and fast. She had plenty of recommendations. The sushi was the best I've ever had. And the mojito was delicious. It isn't cheap, so be prepared, but definitely good.

Stopped here on the way to key west. The shrimp and grits was amazing and very hardy. Wife loved her veggie omelet. Mimosas were only $3 at the time. The Bloody Wilson was a great twist on the traditional bloody merry but not too over the top. Our server was very nice and helpful. Would love to stop by sometime later at night, seemed like a great place to hangout for drinks.

Phenomenal.Such an iconic spot. The location, the decor, the wait staff, the food… seriously one of the best experiences we could have asked for!!!You can just feel the fun loving vibe as soon as you get out of your car and head to the front door. Greeted with a friendly staff member and seated immediately (we had reservations, definitely recommend even if it’s last minute!)Our server was awesome got our drinks right away, suggested the Lionfish Tower appetizer and wow, that was delicious!!!Ate our fill with more Lionfish sushi, watched the divers on the big screen and could not be any more content, but finished our dinner off with a slice of key lime pie! The best anniversary dinner we could have ever asked for, so grateful to have found this spot!(Recommended to us by a fishing friend Alex at Two Conchs)

First off Selina our server was great. If you go and you should, ask for her. They had a large selection of Sushi and seafood offerings. The Mahi stuffed with shrimp and scallops was the best I ever had. I will make this place my number one stop in Marathon.

"Castaways, we are castaways" this will be on repeat in your head the entire time....but it's great! Fun vibes and great service. Once the sunset goes down you'll want to finish your night off as a castaway at Castaways 👌 Ask for Christine as your bartender...she offers great life advice and is super friendly 😀 10/10 would recommend and 10/10 will be back again! I would have posted a before photo of the wings but I was starving and they were so amazing I couldn't stop to take a picture before they were all gone. Definitely get the wings!!!!

If you appreciate great food and service, this is your place. In the area for a week, and my wife and I have been EVERYWHERE. We planned on trying a couple new places every day, but decided this place is worth a visit more than once. The bartenders and waitstaff are a treasure, and the chef is passionate about his craft. The drinks were amazing, and the food was perfect. Best Rangoons and sushi we’ve ever had. Never heard of lobster enchiladas, but they’re worth trying. Fantastic! If you’re lucky, you’ll see the manatees. Thank you for a great couple hours. You made our vacation memorable.

Celebrated our Anniversary with this nice sign and coffee filter flowers done by our waitress so sweet and nice. We wanted the lionfish because it is invasive to Florida and beyond. The fish can not be caught by pole so it takes effort and we really enjoy it when we can get it. The lionfish roll was delicious, and we had several pieces of lionfish sashimi not shown. Oysters and 🍣 all delicious. They gave us 2 pieces of key lime pie, and it was really delicious and yellow just like it's supposed to be.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Castaways Restaurant in Marathon, FL, and it was an excellent experience. Despite its unassuming exterior, the food was an absolute delight, and the service was top-notch. I highly recommend giving it a try – sometimes the best places are the hidden gems!

Overall 5 stars and highly recommend a visit. Staff were very helpful and welcoming. Tracy (my server) was spot on with her seafood recommendation (Tilefish). She informed me that this particular fish is fresh caught and⁰ sourced exclusivey from a local fisherman. Possibly a tad over-cooked but so minor as to not really impact the finished product. The fish at $40 dollars come with two sides. I had the salad and baked potato. I like American baked potatoes. Great beer selection on tap with a good number of local beers.

Chef Bo serves the best food in the Florida Keys! Castaway is a hidden gem, that does not disappoint. The Golden Tile, Lion Fish, Pompano and the Hog Fish were all amazing. To top it off Chef Bo makes everyone feel welcome, and ensures that each dish is perfect!

What a gem of a place in Marathon! Sit outside by the water and if you're lucky, you may see manatees right by your table! Must try the lionfish roll here... lion fish is an invasive species and by farming this, not only is the ecological balance maintained, but you get a fresh and rare fish in your maki roll. The key lime pie martini is also a drink that you must try in the Florida Keys. It's a bit sweet, but worth the experience. All the sushi we had was absolutely 💯 fresh and delicious. They have some innovative rolls on the menu too. The service was outstanding and it's hard to beat the ambience

Finally was able to make here again. Service from Michael and greeter were great. Best lemon drop martini yay. Had the crab Rangoon, which is the best I’ve had. I went for the lobster, which is very good. My husband had the shrimp and grits wow. And he also had chili. We were so full we could not have a dessert. They only thing this place is missing is a Water-view. Is an Asian seafood restaurant. Don’t care for sushi but a lot of people were ordering it. .

Food was excellent. In fact, Scotty gives two thumbs up 👍🏼. The lobster enchilada were awesome. They cooked our mutton wreck diver style and it was a hit. The lumpia were excellent.

I was definitely worried this place was a typical tourist trap. But don’t worry, it lives up to the hype. The seafood is fresh and delicious. With many different ways to prepare it it’s hard to go wrong. A must try place when you’re in Marathon

Unfortunately we found this spot on our last day of our honey moon, but boy it didn’t disappoint.I spent most of my time looking for a place that served quality raw fish, and this was the spot!Everything we ate from the crab Rangoons to the steak burrito was great, don’t pass on the tuna tataki , very fresh and full of flavor. The place is tucked away a bit but sometimes those are the best places to eat!And our server James was amazing , extremely nice, personable and knowledgeable! If you’re in the area you MUST stop in!

He environment here is amazing and you can tell all their food is fresh! The calamari wasn’t chewy at all and the marinara was delish! The linguini was so creamy and the chicken was well seasoned. The golden tile special (w pina colada rice and mango chutney) was such a standout! The fish was so flaky and tender, not fishy at all. The coconut cake wasn’t too sweet, and had a light, moist cake. The key lime pie was the best I’ve had in marathon, w a cheesecake-like crust and a tangy, creamy key lime filling! Such a fun experience, will definitely be back!

Ok. This place is good, not great. Probably a place you should try if in Key Marathon. Great atmosphere. Great service. Fish was really good but nothing to go crazy over. Conchs weee actually best part, well maybe the toasted coconut keylime pie. Wife got hog fish wreckdiver style. Very good lemony/butter sauce. Really good. I got hog fish with shrimp/scallop topping. All good. Pretty expensive. But again, not crazy over the top awesome.

I had the immense pleasure of dining at Castaways in Marathon, and let me just say, it's a hidden gem you won't want to miss! From the outside, you might not expect much, but trust me, the saying "Don't judge a book by its cover" couldn't be more accurate here. The service was exceptional—truly some of the friendliest I've encountered in the Middle Keys. Every staff member went above and beyond to make our visit special - especially Brian our server. Now, let's talk about the food. Each dish was a masterpiece, both in presentation and taste. Every bite was absolutely delicious, leaving us eager for the next. But it's not just about the food and service; the atmosphere is the cherry on top. Situated on the waterfront, the restaurant offers an authentic Keys experience that's both relaxed and captivating. If you're in the Marathon area, do yourself a favor and stop by Castaways. It encapsulates everything you'd hope for in a Florida Keys dining experience and then some!

These sushi must be a joke.. (see pics).Terrible service. When I asked for the happy hour menu the waitress changed from being friendly to being rude and disrespectful. It took her 25 minutes to bring us that menu. And than we waited around 20 minutes to make an order and 30 more minutes to get our food. And after all the sushi looked like that... by the way $7 for veggie sushi is not too cheap
