Tenderly cooked beef smothered in a savory gravy...this keto beef recipe is easy and perfect for busy weeknights. Serve over cauliflower mash or rice... either way, this comfort dish will be a hit!

Keto beef recipes are really popular around here, and with good reason! Some of the most popular recipes on my blog are beef: Keto beef and zucchini skillet recipe, Keto lasagna and I have no doubt that this keto beef tips with gravy recipe will be a new family favorite!

More often than not when my family requests a specific dinner, it is usually a beef recipe. There is just something about the rich flavor of the beef that really screams comfort food. I love making them keto beef recipes because they really aren't much different than a traditional recipe that isn't keto.

Ingredients

This section explains how to choose the best ingredients for this keto beef recipe, what each one does in the recipe, and substitution options. For the printable recipe, see therecipe card below.

1 tablespoon avocado oil (15mL) -olive oil or canola oil could also be used if that is what you have on hand.

1 ½ pounds sirloin steak (680g) - This cut of steak will be the most affordable, but also tender enough for this keto beef recipe. You could go with a more expensive cut of beef, but that wouldn't be necessary for this recipe.

1 teaspoon kosher salt - I like to use kosher salt in all of my recipes. If you use table salt, you would need to use half as much.

¼ teaspoon black pepper

1 small onion, diced -I like to have bags of frozen chopped onion on hand at all times for recipes like this. They are so convenient!

3 cloves garlic, minced -another shortcut ingredient I love and always have on hand is jarred minced garlic.

2 cups beef broth (470mL)

1 teaspoon xanthan gum -This is used a thickener for the sauce. You could also use arrowroot starch

2 tablespoon soy sauce (30mL) - if you need this dish to be gluten free, use Tamari.

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce (30mL)

½ teaspoon dried thyme

1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Keto beef recipe step by step

This section explains how to make this keto beef recipe step by step. For a full printable recipe, see therecipe card below.

Step 1 - Before starting, I like to gather all of my ingredients, chop my vegetables, and we need to cut our beef into 1 inch chunks.

Step 2 - Heat the avocado oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add in your beef chunks and season them with salt and pepper. Brown the beef for a few minutes on all sides, then remove from skillet to a plate and set aside.

Step 3 - Reduce the heat to medium and add the butter to the skillet. Stir in the diced onion and let cook until the onions are translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the garlic and cook for 1 minute more. Pour in the beef broth and xanthan gum, whisk to combine ingredients. Then stir in the soy sauce, Worcestershire, thyme, and return the beef to the pan.

Step 4 - Bring your liquid to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Let simmer for about 30 minutes or until the gravy has thickened and the beef is tender. Stirring occasionally. Garnish with parsley to finish.

Serving suggestions

Since this keto beef recipe is rich, I would recommend putting it over my Instant Pot Mashed Cauliflowerand then having a side salad with it or my Keto Jalapeno cheddar cornbread muffins. It would also be great with delicata squash fries!
