The Career Launch Case Manager position works in a typical office environment. May conduct some duties outside of the office to attend meetings with partnering agencies. Candidate is expected to work 40 hours per week in the office, as scheduled, between 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. This is not a remote position.

This is a Full-Time 40 Hour Weekly position with the Department of Labor and Regulation - Job Services Division. For more information on the Department of Labor and Regulation, please visit https://dlr.sd.gov/ .

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

A bachelor's degree is highly preferred. In lieu of a 4-year degree, 4 years of experience working in case management, counseling, human resources, or social services may be considered.

It is very important for candidates to be able to use a personal computer, have specific knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, TEAMS, and have the ability to work with various software programs.

If fluent in languages other than English, please include this information on the application.

Knowledge of:

  • case management, interviewing and counseling techniques;
  • program eligibility requirements;
  • principles of human behavior and motivation;
  • labor market and economic conditions in the state of South Dakota;
  • marketing techniques to employers and human resource professionals to build effective working relationships; and
  • knowledge of how to locate and connect with various supportive services offered in South Dakota.

Skill to:

  • effectively work with program participants who may have barriers to employment; and
  • build and maintain effective working relationships with employers, program partners, and co-workers to work towards participant success.

Ability to:

  • partner with customers to develop employment goals and action steps;
  • accurately maintain all required documentation, notes and follow-up attempts;
  • follow all program policies and procedures;
  • use all technology available to manage communication with participants, program partners and co-workers;
  • develop and maintain relationships with participants, program partners, employers and co-workers;
  • communicate information clearly; and
  • effectively speak to individuals and or small groups of participants or employers about program services.
