Have you ever noticed that bark candy seems to be reserved for Christmas? Don’t get me wrong. Peppermint bark is absolutely delicious. But why can’t we make this easy candy for other holidays like Valentine’s day or Halloween? Well, we can (and have!). You won’t believe how easy this bloody Halloween bones bark is to make and how good it will look on your Halloween buffet or given out in treat bags at Halloween parties.

You only need 5 ingredients to make this delicious Bloody Bones Bark. And, in case you’re wondering, you can use shortening in place of the lard. It won’t make the candy any healthier, but lard can be hard to find in some stores.

The coolest thing about this recipe is the decorations. The red dye against the white candy makes such a creepy design. Everyone at your party is sure to love this fun treat. Best of all though, this is so easy to make that you can make it throughout October for so many different occasions.

Like Halloween Chex mix or mummy rice krispie treats, This candy is perfect for October fundraisers, treat bags, Halloween parties, or just to bring to the office on Halloween. It’s simple, delicious, and sure to be a big hit with everyone who tries it.

And, if you have extra bark, you can break it into smaller pieces and stick them into the top of cupcakes for an easy creepy Halloween cupcake topper.

If you’re short on time this Halloween, this is the perfect recipe. It’s quick and easy, yet looks incredible.

A printable version of the recipe is included at the bottom of the post for your convenience.

Next, melt ½ cup of white vanilla chips on the stove over medium heat. Stirring constantly. Add red food dye and a small amount of lard to the white vanilla chips. Continue to stir. Keep adding red food dye until your chips reach a dark red color. You will need to add more lard as the dye seizes up the chips. Once you’ve achieved the color of blood, remove the chips from the stove.

Dip a spoon into the “blood” and fling it onto the white bark. Keep doing this until you’ve reached your desired look.
